Walking School Bus coming in September!

Dear Parents & Guardians,

VOLUNTEERS are NEEDED to help with the Walking School Bus program for Holy Name of Mary Catholic School and R. Tait McKenzie Public School in Almonte! This position will run from September until December 2019, then will restart after March break until June 2020. Opportunities are available for 1-5 mornings a week for the journey to school.

What’s a Walking School Bus, you say? It’s a group of kids walking to school under the supervision of a trained adult leader. Like a regular school bus, the Walking School Bus follows a fixed and safe route with designated “bus stops” and “pick up times”. For more information on the Walking School Bus Program, please see the Leeds, Grenville and Lanark Health Unit’s Active School Travel Page. You can register for the Walking School Bus any time this summer or after school has started.

Volunteers are offered the opportunity to be trained in emergency first aid and are provided an honorarium of $15.00/day

If you are looking for an experience to walk outdoors, and connect with local kids, then this is for you! Please e-mail your interest to WalkingSchoolBus_LGL@healthunit.
