Terry Fox Walk

As in past years, we will once again be participating in our school’s Annual Terry Fox Walk. Our walk will occur on Thursday, September 28th. Since we are running our event later in the month, and with Thanksgiving weekend just around the corner, we are asking for a donation of a Toonie and one food item per student. The funds will be donated to the Cancer Society and the food items will be donated to the Lanark County Food Bank. If families would also like to purchase a luminary in remembrance or in honour of someone affected by cancer these will be displayed outside our school on the day of our walk.

This year we would like to add a theme to our walk: Canada Proud. Each student is invited to wear their favourite Canadian symbols. This could be any piece of clothing with Canadian symbols on it. Two classes at a time will walk a mapped out route, handing off a poster to the next group, indicating their turn to participate. This allows a presence of support from our school over a longer time frame throughout the day, and mimics more of a “relay for life” format. We hope to a have a great day. Let’s all come out wearing our favourite hats, T-shirts, or Jerseys displaying Canadian symbols, and celebrate the beautiful country we are proud to be part of.
